Its imposing Late Renaissance-styled Bernadine monastery, which is one of the most impressive in southeast Poland, makes the small town of Leżajsk a place definitely worth visiting. The richly ornate basilica and its convent buildings were designed by the Italian architect Antonio Pellacini, who was responsible for a number of architectural works in Lesser Poland.
You should try to visit Leżajsk for the opportunity to attend an organ recital. The 17th-century instrument in the monastery's basilica is one of the best in the country and the building hosts some excellent concerts.
The Renaissance town hall, the Orthodox church, the synagogue and especially the very large Jewish cemetery (the oldest graves at which date from the 18th century) are other highlights to see when visiting Leżajsk, a place which has the feel and atmosphere of a typically small sleepy town of southeast Poland.
