Ngawal is a little jewel which you can discover by heading off the main route while you are walking around the Annapurnas.
 It is nothing too complicated though. You just have to follow an uphill path from Upper Pisang. The panorama over the Himalayan giants standing over 6,000 metres tall - Annapurna II, Pisang Peak and others whose names I have forgotten - is simply magical.
However, I was a bit doubtful about the descent - I really wasn't sure about the path I had taken. But after walking for an hour, the blue marks indicated that the path was heading back - phew!
In short, Nagwal is really charming, and although getting there is a bit harder than following the official route, it is really worth the detour: you will really become aware of the fact you are on a high mountain trek!

I should add that I visited Nepal before the 2015 earthquake, so it is therefore possible that the place has changed a lot since.
