On a small territory extending above the city of Lagodekhi, located in the valley of the Alazani, Lagodekhi National Park is simply a gem of Caucasian nature. This is one of the areas of the country where I did my most beautiful hikes.
It starts at the gates of the city and extends to the high peaks (3428 m) of the Dagestan range, which separates Georgian Kakheti from Russian Daghestan. Several high valleys, some of which form picturesque gorges, allow you to reach the alpine zone, which is particularly open and offers splendid views of Kakheti.
Lagodekhi National Park is riddled with natural wonders: the lake of the Black Waterfall, the sulphur springs, Ninoskhevi Waterfall, etc. It also shelters a preserved plant and animal life, which will delight botanists between June and July. The east Caucasian tur (goat), the brown bear or the imperial eagle are just a few examples among the many inhabitants of the park...
