Santa Fe is a charming colonial town with a population of 25,000 located in the Colombian department of Antoquia and lying around 80 kilometres from Medellin, the country's second most populated city.
It was when I was visiting Medellín on my trip to Colombia that a friend recommended I should go for a tour around Santa Fe De Antioquia. Famous for its wealth of architectural and historical heritage, this predominantly white-walled town contains no less than eight churches and various magnificent colonial houses dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. It's impossible to resist falling under the spell of Santa Fe de Antioquia, with its labyrinth of little paved streets and the little, romantic balconies of its old, Spanish-inspired houses.
Those who love architecture and picturesque towns will enjoy Santa Fe de Antioquia. Beware though: you could end up falling hopelessly in love with this little corner of rural Colombia
