At 6088 metres of altitude, the Huayna Potosi provides a unique opportunity to tackle a 6000-metre mountain. The summit is one of the most accessible in the world at this height. I went there during my <a href="/bolivia/">trip in Bolivia</a>. If some agencies propose a rate under £110 or offer you to climb it in two days, refuse. There is no question of economising on safety. With three days of walking you will have more time to acclimatise to the altitude and therefore have a greater chance of reaching the peak. For your information, approximately 80% of hikers arrive at the top. This is an exceptional percentage at this altitude. However, don’t fool yourself into believing that it’s nothing more than a leisurely stroll - it requires good physical condition to attempt such an adventure.
