A mining town in southwest Australia and the last town before you reach the Nullarbor Desert.
My suggestion
If you're crossing Australia from east to west (or vice versa), then you must stop at Kalgoorlie and visit its gold mine!

Kalgoorlier is a mining town in western Australia, with 28,242 inhabitants. It's situated 560km to the East of Perth, that is to say, in the Australian bush.
My suggestion
January is the hottest month with the average temperature being 34°C although it often exceeds 40°C. It's best to go in "the winter" to cross over from East to West Australia...
This part of Australia is unique and distinguishes itself from the other part of Queensland and the rest of the country by its impressive rain forests, deserted beaches, and very diverse animal and plant life. You must have heard people talk about the "wet tropics" which is home 36% of the country's animal species.
