The southern entry point for the Barrier Reef, Bundaberg is an average industrial city located a few kilometres from the coast.
My suggestion
The Great Barrier Reef covers enough area to find a nicer base than Bundaberg, particularly one by the sea.
The Queensland city of Bundaberg lies at the mouth of the Burnett River, to the north of Brisbane.
My suggestion
Unless you happen to be a fan of unusual museums, it is not an essential city to visit. I recommend other destinations in the local area instead, such as Hervey Bay and Fraser Island for example.
