A rather nondescript town, Ninh Binh is the gateway to Terrestrial Halong Bay.

My suggestion

I would advise you to rent a scooter in Ninh Binh, perfect for visiting surrounding areas, much more interesting than the town itself.

Rather than staying in the middle of town it's better to choose one of the inns in the surrounding countryside.
