Lao Cai is a city in the mountains of northern Vietnam, located near the Chinese border, where people rarely stay for long. It is the most widely used route to get to Sapa.

My suggestion

Don't plan to stay there, and don't hesitate to take the minibuses from the main square at the exit of the railway station that will take you straight to the town of Sapa.
