The appeal of Nukus as a destination boils down to the Savitsky Karakalpakstan State Museum of Art, which - for what it's worth - is absolutely fantastic. Otherwise... there's not much else.
My suggestion
Spend as much time as possible in the museum! There are two reasons for that: it is absolutely superb, and there really isn't anything else to do in town.
