Ollantaytombo is a little village in Peru and was once an ancient Inca city. The town makes a very interesting stop for all travellers making a trip to Peru.
My suggestion
Don't hesitate to make an overnight stop at Ollantaytombo on your way back from visiting Machu Picchu, rather than returning directly to Cusco.

The town of Ollantaytambo and it's archaeological site are situated between Cusco and Machu Picchu. Take the time to visit this charming, little Inca town.
My suggestion

Archaeology aside, the town of Ollantaytambo itself is lovely. It has lots of small cafes, shops and a great market if you need to stock up on things. I would have liked to have spent more time there during my holiday in this region of Peru.

My suggestion
The place is considered to be something worth seeing. It's true that it is not very big, but it has managed to keep its soul and is worth a look, especially for those looking for authenticity or ancient buildings. Stay there a day.
