Annapurna Circuit is the best known of Nepal's treks amongst hikers. We were warned that it could get extremely busy, and that turned out to be a pretty accurate description.

My suggestion

Study your map and read your guide carefully before embarking on this trek, and make sure you're fit enough to cope with the long periods of physical effort involved! Because it goes without saying that even though this is a very busy and popular route, it does reach altitudes of over 3,000 metres, and some people will experience ill effects at those kinds of heights.

The Annapurna range dominates the plain of Pokhara. Most of the peaks culminate at more than 6000 metres above sea level and up to 8000 metres for Annapurna I and II.

My suggestion

A trek in the region is pretty much obligatory! There's a choice of treks, from a few days to nigh-on a month, depending on your fitness level and travel plans. Whatever you choose to do, you won't have any regrets!
