For travellers who want a little peace and quiet there is the region of 4,000 Islands in the south of Laos, an archipelago of islands strung out along the Mekong.
My suggestion
Two of the islands are generally recommended if you want to stay in the region: Don Det and Don Khon. Go to the first if you are looking for action and a party atmosphere, and the second for calm and relaxation.
