The cities I visited - Jaisalmer, Jodphur, Udaipur - were all fascinating in their own way. Kumbalgarh fort and wandering the small streets of Udaipur were highlights.
The best parts:
Well organised, great driver. All the hotels were lovely.
The worst parts:
Despite saying clearly I only wanted a driver, the local agency decided that, as I was travelling alone, I should have a guide at each destination. These guides rushed me through the programme to get me to expensive tourist shops where they obviously got commission on the overpriced goods. I did buy a couple of things, and heartily wish I hadn't. The local agent was sympathetic, and paid for my dinner on the last night, but it didn't make up for a ruined trip.

Hi Susan, Many thanks for taking your time to leave a review about your trip. I was totally unaware that you do not want the guides for your trip, as it was always mentioned in the various quotes that I have given you, I thought you were OK to have guides for your trip. I did it with the best intention for you to have a safe trip, but unfortunately things have turned out otherwise. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience it has caused you, I know that my words or my deeds will not compensate your bad experience. But I can assure you that we will take a special care and offer you with a special prize for your next trip to India. Best Regards, Peter

Enjoyed most of it. I would not visit Delhi again, too polluted. We love Gujarat, Diu beach a disappointment due to rubbish on beach We had two good drivers but one did not speak much English and we were told we would have English speaking drivers. Having said that he was really kind, considerate, helpful and looked after us much better than the second English speaking driver. One hotel Udiapur was changed and was not of a similar standard than the original. Company did their best to sort this out but the hotel was poor and would definitely not eat in the hotel restaurant. there was a beautiful hotel 200 meters away not too expensive Overall we had a great time with a few hiccups I would travel this way again and would recommend the company as they did everything they could to help and kept in contact to see we were OK.
The best parts:
The independence of the travel and visiting places Lack of other Europeans until Rajesthan, we felt in the real India. Food Safari and jeep rides The experience was great The people were lovely access to swimming pools
The worst parts:
Some hotels not so good as others. Hotel changes were not similar Needed more information about safari tours ( jeep) More evening meals needed to be included where there was no choice due to location of accommodation Indian city pollution the tour company might give more information about things to see/do on route and in the locations ,then one could chose the ones one liked Hotels needed to be upgraded in cities for the price of the tour (not asking 5*) some hotels had no public space area. Second driver took us only to European places to eat on route which were awful and expensive

We enjoyed seeing India, or at least a small part of it. The driver and guides were excellent and everything was as promised. The Hotel in Delhi, the Maidens, was superb, the Double Tree Hilton in Agra was functional but not in the least Indian, and the third one in Jaipur Dera Mandawa was a fabulous Indian house hotel, full of authenticity.
The best parts:
Private car and driver. Guides in every city.
The worst parts:
We felt trapped in the hotels once the official tour was over for the day. In Agra, we started early to beat the crowds but finished by 11am, and the hotel was positioned in the slums meaning we felt u safe to go out. The hotel at Agra was with out a soul...we could have been in any city in the world.

Hi Barbara, Indeed many thanks for a lovely feedback, I am glad that you have enjoyed your trip very much except your hotel in Agra, unfortunately there are no good heritage hotels in Agra. You have just had a taste of small part of this vast country, I would encourage you to travel to South India which is totally different from the north. Best Regards, Peter

The best parts:
I liked almost everything. We loved the car only for us, and our driver. He is a wonderful person. I liked the hotel Florence in Dehli, but I would prefer a hotel chain more known. WIDHAM, HOLYDAY, ETC. THE HOTEL IN JAIPUR EXTRAORDINARY ATTENTION

In addition to what was explained in the best parts section, I would say that the two first hotels (Suryagargh and Raas) were an experience in itself. Try the spa facilities in Suryagargh and take a fort view room in Raas where you can enjoy from your balcony the fort lightening up while drinking a glass of champagne. It is just fantastic.
The best parts:
We had a wonderful time in India and this is mainly due to a perfect planning from the travel agency. When we will go back to India we will not hesitate in using them again. Everything was taken care of and the guides were very knowledgeable. The ones hired in Jaisalmer and Agra were the best. The best parts were in Jaisailmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur. Beautiful cities and most magnificent hotels. Another big highlight was Ranthambore park where we saw 6 tigers. We were also the first tourists in Taj Mahal which is an unforgettable experience (the tranquility of the place before the hordes of tourists). This whole trip has been truly magic.
The worst parts:
The hotel in Udaipur was a bit of a let down after staying in so beautiful hotels in Jaisalmer (Suryagargh) and Jodhpur (Raas) and the city itself was not as beautiful as the rest of the sites we visited. I would suggest the travel agency to find another hotel for Udaipur as I think this has influenced our overall experience of the city. The second driver didn't speak a word of English which worked ok but it could have been better to be able to communicate on simple things (when to get picked up the day after, plan for the rest of the day, possibility of using his services to go to restaurants in the evenings).

Dear Ms Sandra Boy We thank you for submitting your review on Evaneos. It is great to know that you liked the services of guides and loved the experience in Ranthambore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Taj Mahal and other cities. We are so sorry to know that you did not like Fatehgarh in Udaipur. It is one of the better heritage hotels in Udaipur. We have already given your feedback to the hotel and they shall make improvements in future. We regret the inconvenience caused to you because of one of the drivers being less fluent in English. We shall inform our local offices and try to select better drivers for future. Just for your information, we wish to inform that we regularly vet our guides and chauffeurs based on the feedback received and train them to improve their services. Our team looks forward to serving you and your family again in near future. Look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards

India was a wonderful destination to explore. Because we stuck to travelling around the state of Kerala we managed to see a lot, but didn't feel rushed. Kerala offers many different landscapes for you to enjoy from mountains to rice fields.
The best parts:
I loved my trip to India. The carefully planned itinerary suggested by the travel company helped us make the most of our 2 weeks. Our personal driver was amazing! He even took us on an impromptu walking tour of the local area, showing us the spices growing everywhere.

Visiting the breathtaking Taj Mahal, Qutab Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Amber Fort, City Palace & sunrise over Annapurna were not to be missed, plus we added 3 days in Delhi to 'do our own thing' and experience life outside of the tourist route which was well worth while. In Nepal we had to ask our guide to visit the center of Kathmandu and the World Heritage Site Monument Zone of Durbar Square, as it was not in the itinerary and was well worth the visit.
The best parts:
After discussions with Tanirikka and personalisation of the standard holiday being sold, the trip in the main was as expected. Guides were very knowledgeable and communicated well, drivers were prompt and on time. The hotels which we upgraded through Tanrikka were very good with one exception. We changed most of the travel between Cities from Car to train which in itself was an experience. in India and in Nepal we returned from Pokhara to Kathmandu by plane which eliminated another potential 8 hours drive. Any changes to the itinerary whilst on the trip were instantly acted upon by Tanrikka staff.
The worst parts:
Our visit to Rathambore National Park to do a Tiger Safari was a complete waste of time and money. The Temple Tree hotel which whilst trying to give a 'Colonial' image fell short in many ways, such as Pad locks on doors, Vegetarian food only and miles from a restaurant that sold non vegetarian food, good management but poor front line staff. The Tiger Safari in Ranthambore was a bit of a scam with the National Park divided into 10 zones. It transpired that you are only guaranteed to see tigers in zones 1 to 5 so if you had 2 Safaris in zones 6 & 7 as we did, you had only the remotest chances of seeing big game but plenty of Deer and Peacocks which you can see anywhere in the UK. If you want to pay an additional fee to your guide he will make sure you visit zones 1-5 !!!

Kerala is magic, it has a lot to offer. Nature is lush, food is various with a lot of vegetarian choice. People are nice and friendly, and I've always felt safe. My trip has been all about nature and the best bits have been Munnar and Peryar probably, but it's very difficult to decide among all the places.
The best parts:
I loved nature, food and people, Kerala is a magic place.
The worst parts:
The Homestay Akkarakulam Memoires in Alleppey was not a good stay, the place is rundown, dark and dirty.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Kerala. We visited the towns of Fort Cochin and Munnar. Enjoyed bird watching at HornBill Camp and Munnar. Spent a day and night on our own Houseboat with excellent meals and service, and finally 3 nights luxury accommodation at Abad Turtle Beach with its own private beach.
The best parts:
The whole trip was managed extremely well from the suggested itinerary to the choice of hotels and activities. The driver, Sajid, was wonderful. Always on time, extremely good driver and much help with local information. The highlight was the overnight stay on the houseboat, would not have missed it for the world!
The worst parts:
Very little we didn't like. We did arrive at Mararikulam Abad Turtle Beach about 2 hours before our room was ready. It would have been better to have stopped off somewhere on the way. Apart from that, no complaints at all.

That was a great travelling experience. We have a few remarks, though: 1. Varanasi was definitely the most exciting place to be. Though, we didn't visit the Golden Temple and the well of knowledge. Here's what happened: on arrival at the airport we were welcomed by Mr. Nittin who explained the plan for the next two days. He introduced to us the driver and escorted us to the hotel. We didn't see him since although he should have taken care of our departure and 2 boat rides. In the afternoon the driver took us to the town and somehow we managed to understand him that another 'guide' will take us around. Driver dropped us in the middle of the street downtown where Mr. Raj (so he introduced himself) took us over. We are still not sure who this person was and how did he get into this story. He lead us around the city and its winding narrow streets, we stopped by at Blue Lassi for a glass of lassie (he invited himself for a drink on our treat). He was explaining the story of his life and how he strives to provide for his family (showing us pics of some women and a child) and then took us to the evening boat ride. After that he took us back to the car park where the driver was waiting. Mr. Raj of course expected a tip (although we don't know if he was planned in this tour at all) and apparently frowned dissatisfied with the tip of 400 INR for a 2 hour guidance. Next morning we set out to the morning boat ride and we were again handed over by the driver to Mr. Raj in the city centre. He hardly greeted us and explained that a boatman will take us to the ghat and on a boat tour. These were now 4 different people guiding us in Varanasi. After the boat ride the boatman was paid a tip by us (although the ride was included in our tour) and keep rushing us back to the car where the driver was waiting. Immediately after we set out to Sararnath. When I mentioned that we didn't visit all the sights in Varanasi, he was quite confused and called Mr. Nittin who then I spoke to and explained to him the situation. He replied that he'd see what he could do in the afternoon. The driver also didn't want to take us back due to heavy traffic and no parking in the vicinity of the sight. Late in the afternoon Mr. Nittin called back but I had to agree at that time was no time to go back to Varanasi for the sightseeing again as our departure time was closing. The driver then explained that after lunch we were waiting for another guide who would escort us to the train as this procedure is also quite complicated. The guy came and did his job properly (against the tip, again). Although, it was obvious that we were way to early for boarding the train and both (driver and train guide) were trying to show us this church and that house along the way just to kill time and we were not interested in all that at all. So, this was person no. 5 in the Varanasi story. Besides, each expected a tip although only two persons were planned in this section of the tour! We really were impressed with the city but REALLY unfortunately we hadn't had a chance to feel it properly. We could have spent the whole morning in Varanasi but we hadn't. Everything was done in a rush (mostly throughout tho whole journey) while before departure we were hanging around some unimportant buildings along the way to the train station. We hereby demand an explanation around this situation that unpleasantly surprised us and would even expect some kind of compensation for that. We were very satisfied with Mr. Narendra on the road trip in Rajastan. Very professional and accomplished gentlemen, helped us a lot on the way with guidance, advice and all we needed. Kerala: if we planned the tour again, we would definitely skip Munnar. Too long a drive (both ways) for very little satisfaction. Beside tea museum there was nothing to write home about. Not to mention that dairy farm planned to visit as well as natural resort are closed to public. Echo point is one ridiculous place with hundreds of local tourists and there's no echo to hear. Again, the driver suggested a few activities to fill in the extra time we had left. Instead, we could have spent a day more on the beach or above all in interesting places of Rajastan (Pushkar is worth staying a day more)
The best parts:
India is a place that amazes every visitor with it's diversity in culture, people, countryside, food and way of life.
The worst parts:
In Varanasi - too many people taking care of us (5!) but at the end we missed visiting an important sightseeing that was planned in our tour. Drivers, except for Mr. Narendra, spoke very bad English and any detailed communication was impossible. Constant impression to rush from one sight to another and too little time to just sit, observe, enjoy and embrace the experience and spend time there on the spot not just in the car.

Hi Mitja, I am glad that you have overall enjoyed your trip to India, by this time you would be aware of how complex and colorful the country itself which makes it as a unique destination. It is very unfortunate that you had a bad experience in Varanasi, we did check with Nitin about it he said only 3 people from our agency were in contact with you during your stay in Varanasi (him, his driver and an assistant who met you at the time of departure/ of course you need a boat man to drive your boat) he was surprised about the 3rd person whom you met in the street. I assume that Raj who met you was a tout, such people approach the western tourists and take them around and asks for tips and make a living out of it. This guy was not someone we have arranged because I have not included any guide services for your trip. It is a shame that you have been rushed in to the visits and you were not properly experience the city. No matter how I try to explain the situation I cannot justify what had happened to you, I really apologize for the bad experience you went through. May be while visiting such a “crazy” place like Varanasi having a guide might come handy. Regarding Munnar, some people like this place very much but I could see that this was not your case, some people like to be surrounded by nature, the views of the tea plantations and the weather. I guess that as you are from Slovenia and you are very much used to such weather and nature in your own country and it did not catch your attention very much. In a duration of roughly 3 weeks you have covered the different aspects of this massive country, each corner has its own character and feel. Now I have a better understanding of your expectations, this experience will surely help me to organize a better trip for you next time. We deeply regret for what had happened despite us putting all our efforts to make your experience seamless, but such a situation was beyond our control. However, I assure you that there won’t be any such hindrances on your way in your future trips as we will take all required care to make sure you enjoy your tour thoroughly. Best Regards, Peter

The agency was superb in supplying everything we had asked for, they arranged all the hotels/homestay/heritage hotels and havelis that we asked for. Their driver Anil was superb, always ready to answer any questions that we had and suggest interesting places to visit as well as being an excellent driver. 21 days gave us the opportunity to visit many of the Golden Triangle greats - Taj Mahal, Amber Fort, the Pink City, the Blue City but also to see some of the less well visited but equally stunning places - loved the forts and temples but Bharatpur for the birds, Pushkar for the atmosphere and Nawalgahr for the havelis were absolutely stunning. to name but a few.
The best parts:
The best thing was that we were able to stay 2 - 3 nights in each place and were able to have a look around at some of the less well visited sights in each place without feeling rushed.
The worst parts:
Nothing that could be changed without removing the 'charm' of India i.e. the noise, chaotic roads, rubbish and open drains.

Our driver Rajeef was most excellent - always courteous, on-time, friendly and informative. The trip was good overall although the dirt and poverty, especially in Agra was a shock. We liked Jaipur. Everything went as planned and we have been very pleased.
The best parts:
Visiting the Taj Mahal was a spiritual experience and the Amber Fort in Jaipur was also very good.
The worst parts:
The Bansi Homestay was not as good as expected - although this was my request to have it included. The food was very good but the room felt dingy and the sheets didn't seem clean.
