I was impressed by the gorgeous landscapes of the Black Forest. Imagine 105 miles of vast and magnificent coniferous forests, lakes and high peaks bordered by scenic steep roads where gorges and cliff passes dominate, interlaced with vines on the hillsides and beautiful pastures dotted with farms. An idyllic setting during a stay in Germany!
The Route des Crêtes is a trip I recommend: I especially loved the little glacier lake, Mummelsee, at the foot of Hornisgrinde (5500 feet), one of the tallest peaks in the Black Forest.
Take the time to admire Freudenstadt Church and the fascinating Allerheiligen waterfalls. If you like beautiful panoramas, go to the Black Forest High Road, a mountain path where I stood in awe at magnificent peaks, including Mount Belchen (4600 feet): a beautiful lookout point over the Rhine, the Alps and the Vosges.
Continue your journey to Feldberg Mountain (4900 feet) and Titisee: an amazingly beautiful glacial lake! If you like unusual places, don't miss the Black Forest Open Air Museum, in the heart of the Gutach Valley.
