Kazbegi is a village to the far north of Georgia, about fifteen kilometres from the Russian border.
My suggestion
There's a short, mountain hike from the village that leads to the Tsminda Sameba Monastery. Benefit from the stunning view and calm setting at the summit!

Now officially named Stepantsminda (but still referred to as Kazbegi), the village is in the heart of the Greater Caucasus Range, making it a great base for exploring this mountainous region.
My suggestion
Kazbegi is only 15km from the Russian border. If you're coming here from Russia, be warned that the border crossing is not open all day. Check out its opening times before you leave.

Kazbegi is a mountain village to the far north of Georgia. It's home to a church perched on a rocky outcrop, with Mount Kazbeg as a backdrop.
My suggestion
Even though it's touristy, there's no where to go out or eat in the village. So it's best to stay at the local guesthouse and benefit from its facilities.
